Dynamic and High Performing

The Frontier Orchard La Vigna property, boasting 58 canopy hectares in total, was developed by Baygold during 2006 - 2009. PSA caused havoc, which affected the production of a large portion of the property. But in 2012 the whole operation was re-grated to produce the now famous SunGold variety. Frontier La Vinga produces bumper crops and holds its place on the podium of the country's top performing orchards.

Southland Orchard is a fantastic example of a kiwifruit orchard that has been meticulously developed, with huge credit to the team. It has become a phenomenal property long before its full completion. Our innovative and proactive approach, as well as great attention to detail from all involved, ensures that the plants that grow here will mature beautifully and turn the orchard into a highly productive property in the years to come.

Long Rays in the Sun

Purchased in 2011, Whiritoa Orchards is a property filled with history. The name was shortened from 'Rawhitiroa' and the meaning is significant to the property. It can mean 'a long day', 'a place where the sun shines for a long time', or simply 'long pathway'. This poetic term reflects how the land was part of explorer Ihenga's pathway as he travelled across Maketu to Rotorua.

Whitiroa is a unique property in history as well as in its future potential, with an additional characteristic of the property being its pumice quarry. The contour outcome is worthy of the effort, with the result being quality plantable land with maximised land recovery. Every effort is applied to delivering an economic outcome for the quarry; with the remainder of the land being cropped for silage and maize.

This property development has been a long journey by name and by nature, as we continue to cultivate the land for production. Our planting plan is forecast to conclude in 2025 and our first full production harvest to commence in 2028.

Where the Land Meets the Sea

The Coast Orchard was purchased in 2012 due to its unique location and scalable potential. It's situated in a new growing region with accessible water, high sunshine hours and stunning views over the Pacific Ocean, which offers a desirable work environment.

This orchard is made up on multiple titles and houses, and is in the process of being extended. This is anticipated to produce an additional 33 canopy hectares.

The Coast Extension

The Coast Orchard is expanding with multiple titles and properties. Upon completion, there will be a productive base of approximately 66 canopy hectares, which will be the perfect addition to our already high-performing kiwifruit activities in the region.

The development programme is underway with earthworks consent, subdivision plans, marketing of unusable land, and funding in process. Works on the first 17.6 canopy hectares began late Spring 2020.
